Stair runners — Battersea SW11

Bespoke stair runners for Battersea's Victorian terraces & new builds.

Battersea is a genuine mix — rows of Victorian terraces on one side, and the newer riverside developments around Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station on the other. Whether it's an original staircase with a century of character or a brand new build with a blank canvas, a bespoke runner is one of the fastest ways to make a staircase feel considered rather than generic.

The Charleston Black — black and white herringbone faux sisal stair runner with cotton border

Materials

Materials that work in Battersea properties.

The Taunton — chunky knotted bouclé sisal stair runner with whipped edge
Natural & textural

Sisal & Natural Fibres

A chunky bouclé sisal with a whipped edge suits Battersea's Victorian terraces particularly well, bringing genuine texture and warmth to original staircases. It's also a hard-wearing, practical option for busier family homes.

The Stroud — seagrass herringbone stair runner with a natural whipped edge
Contemporary & clean

Seagrass & Flatweave

For Battersea's newer riverside apartments, a seagrass herringbone or clean flatweave gives a considered, contemporary look that suits open-plan interiors and modern staircases just as well. We bring samples to your Battersea home so you can compare materials in your own light.

The Malmsbury — rustic sisal bouclé stair runner with a whipped edge

A contrasting cotton border is a simple way to lift a natural-fibre runner, particularly on the exposed, painted staircases common in Battersea's terraces — navy, charcoal or a tonal shade all work well depending on the material. For a cleaner look, a plain whipped edge suits sisal and seagrass particularly naturally. We stitch every finish in our Wimbledon workshop and check every seam before it leaves for installation.

We also supply and install premium branded runners including Roger Oates, Louis De Poortere and Alternative Flooring for Battersea clients who have specified a particular brand.

Process

The process in Battersea.

01

Estimate

It's really as simple as sending in a short video of your staircase via WhatsApp, with any dimensions you have and what type of runner you have in mind. We come back with a detailed estimate inside 24 hours on a weekday — no site visit required.

02

Samples & spec

Once you accept, we can send samples in the post or bring them to your Battersea home so you see the carpet in your own light. We confirm material, pile, width and edge finish — or work from your designer's spec.

03

Templating

For winders, tight curves or unusual staircases, we return to build paper templates of every step. Non-negotiable on complex jobs — it's what guarantees the fit.

04

Make & install

The runner is cut, shaped and edge-finished in our Wimbledon workshop, every seam inspected before it leaves, then fitted at a time that suits you — including evenings and weekends.

Indicative pricing

What does a bespoke stair runner cost in Battersea?

Polypropylene, whipped

from £800

Supply and fit, standard straight staircase, 13 steps.

Wool or wool bouclé

from £1,000

Same staircase, upgraded to wool or wool bouclé.

Sisal / seagrass, whipped

from £1,200

Same staircase, upgraded to natural sisal or seagrass.

Adding a decorative cotton border increases the cost depending on the tape chosen. Staircases with winders involve additional templating time; two-flight staircases are priced proportionally. Premium materials — Roger Oates flatweave, patterned Wilton, wool bouclé with a herringbone border — carry a higher material cost and reflect the quality of finish most Battersea clients expect. There is no premium for our location — you pay for the runner and the installation, not our postcode.
