Fitting Forbo Marmoleum Fresco Green in a Bathroom in Belvedere (DA17)

Every flooring project has something unique about it, but this recent linoleum floor bathroom installation in Belvedere, DA17, genuinely stood out for us. The client chose Forbo Marmoleum Fresco Marbled 3247 Green, and from the moment we unrolled the material, we knew this was going to be a special job. It’s not often you come across a colour this confident, and we can honestly say it’s one of the most striking and beautiful Marmoleum shades we’ve ever had the pleasure of fitting.

An interesting location with real character

Belvedere is a fascinating part of South East London, sitting along the Thames and known historically for its industrial roots, paper mills, and riverside heritage. Over the years, the area has seen a wave of regeneration, with homeowners investing in thoughtful refurbishments that blend modern design with character. This bathroom project fit perfectly into that trend — a compact space, reimagined with bold design choices and high-quality materials.

Why Marmoleum is ideal for bathrooms

The client selected Forbo Marmoleum Fresco not only for its colour but for its performance. Marmoleum is a natural linoleum product made from renewable raw materials, including linseed oil, wood flour, and jute backing. It’s hygienic, durable, antistatic, and easy to clean — all essential qualities for a bathroom environment. When installed correctly, it performs exceptionally well in domestic bathrooms and cloakrooms.

The colour choice, Fresco 3247 Green, was particularly inspired. In a small bathroom, lighter or neutral floors are often the default, but this rich marbled green completely transformed the space. It added depth, warmth, and character, making the floor a genuine design feature rather than just a practical surface. Once fitted, the colour really made the room pop.

Our installation process

As with all successful flooring installations, preparation was everything. Bathrooms demand a perfectly smooth and stable subfloor, especially when fitting sheet linoleum like Marmoleum.

We began by applying a suitable primer to the entire bathroom floor area. This step is essential to control suction, promote adhesion, and ensure the smoothing compounds bond correctly to the subfloor.

Next, we applied a high-quality screed to the subfloor, carefully working it to the correct levels and allowing adequate drying time. This created a strong and even base, ready for fine finishing.

Once the screed had fully cured, we applied a feather finish smoothing compound. This final layer was then sanded to achieve a perfectly smooth, flat surface. With Marmoleum, even the smallest imperfections can show through, so this stage is carried out with real attention to detail.

With the subfloor fully prepared, we moved on to templating where required, ensuring precise cuts around sanitary ware and awkward bathroom angles. The Marmoleum was then cut, dry-laid, and carefully fitted, before being fully adhered using the manufacturer-approved adhesive.

After installation, the floor was rolled to ensure a strong bond, edges were checked and finished neatly, and the entire area was cleaned down. Finally, we cleared the site, leaving the bathroom clean, tidy, and ready for the next stage of the renovation.

A colour we genuinely loved working with

We don’t say this lightly — we absolutely loved this project. This was the first time we’d installed this particular green, and it exceeded our expectations. It’s bold without being overpowering, luxurious without being flashy, and an absolutely brilliant choice for a small bathroom. The marbled effect adds movement and texture, making the floor visually interesting from every angle.

The client was delighted with the result, and we’re currently waiting for updated photographs of the completed bathroom — something we’re genuinely excited to see.

Final thoughts

This Belvedere bathroom flooring project is a perfect example of how the right material and colour choice can completely transform a space. With careful preparation, expert installation, and a bit of design confidence, Marmoleum can deliver a stunning, long-lasting finish. We’re proud of this installation and look forward to sharing the final images once the bathroom is fully complete.
