A Perfect Fit: Crafting Elegance with Faux Sisal Carpet in a Wimbledon Home
In the heart of Wimbledon SW19, London, we were entrusted with a project that required precision, patience, and a keen eye for detail. The task was clear: fit a beautiful faux sisal carpet onto multiple flights of stairs and landings, transforming the home’s aesthetic while meeting the exacting standards of our client, Peter.
The Vision
From the outset, it was evident that this wasn’t just another carpet fitting job. Peter, the homeowner, had a clear vision and an unwavering commitment to perfection. Every decision—every detail—needed to meet his standards. Communication was key. Our fitters were instructed to consult with Peter at every stage, ensuring he was fully involved and satisfied with every choice before proceeding.
The Details Matter
The project began with careful preparation. While there was no existing flooring to remove, the landings required an additional layer of hardboard, tacked securely in place, to create the perfect base. Underlay was then carefully cut, adhered, and fixed with precision grippers to ensure durability and comfort underfoot.
The selected carpet, Anywhere Ca-rPET Boucle Realign, was both stylish and sustainable – in fact it amke. Its textured finish promised durability while maintaining an elegant look that perfectly complemented the home’s interior.
A Challenging Flight
The second flight of stairs posed a unique challenge. Open stringers along the side meant that the raw carpet edge needed to be meticulously tucked under, creating a seamless finish. This was no ordinary task—it required both skill and close collaboration with Peter to ensure every edge, every fold, and every finish was executed flawlessly.
The team spent time discussing options with Peter, ensuring he was confident in every decision before proceeding. The result? A perfectly tucked edge that elevated the overall appearance of the staircase.
Precision in Every Measurement
The scale of the project was significant, covering multiple landings and staircases:
- Main Landing and Side Stairs (x8): 16.40m²
- Top Landing and Side Stairs (x6): 14.80m²
- Half Landings and Bullnose Stairs (x15): 16m²
- Total Area Covered: 47.2m²
Each measurement was meticulously checked, double-checked, and marked before cutting the carpet to size. The landings—spanning four unique areas—each required precision to ensure seamless transitions and uniformity.
- First Landing: 114cm x 195cm
- Second Landing: 375cm x 226cm
- Third Landing: 210cm x 116cm
- Top Floor Landing: 340cm x 222cm
The Final Touches
Once the carpet was fitted, every door threshold was replaced with care, ensuring smooth transitions between rooms. The final step—cleaning and clearing the workspace—was carried out with the same attention to detail as every stage before it.
When Peter walked through the completed spaces, his satisfaction was clear. The precision, the care, and the collaborative approach had resulted in a finish that met—if not exceeded—his expectations.
A Job Well Done
This project wasn’t just about fitting a carpet; it was about delivering on a vision. From the carefully tucked edges on the second flight of stairs to the seamless finish across multiple landings, every detail mattered.
At the end of the day, the faux sisal carpet didn’t just cover the stairs and landings—it elevated the entire space, creating a look that was both functional and stunning.
For us, this wasn’t just another job—it was a story of collaboration, craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence. And for Peter, it was the realization of a vision brought to life, one carefully fitted step at a time.
